Not getting the opportunity or inclination to go for formal higher education, somewhere seemed to put a dent in that much awaited opportunity to show to the world that I have arrived. To top it all, the responsibilities that come with an early marriage and motherhood started to take those dreams away even further.
As those aspirations started to slip from in between my fingers like sand in a tight fist, I decided one fine day, that I just cannot let this happen. I started looking for opportunities proactively, did a lot of small odd jobs, tutored children, just to get back into action. Meanwhile my mind, heart and soul were searching for that one big idea that could propel me to that height of success which I had always been dreaming about.
My options were limited. One, I could not go for a good salaried job because of the required degrees not being there. Two, I could not go for a business because I had no money to start one, and neither would anybody trust me enough to lend money as I had no experience or expertise. Three, I also did not have any creative talent which I could use to make it big. This seemed a deadlock situation and I was starting to give up hope, when a phone call arrived.
A friend had referred my name to the caller, a lady from Mumbai, for a business opportunity which did not require much investment. I immediately started listening attentively. She also sent me a few sample products and invited me to Business Seminar which was going to be held in Kolkata soon.
That day 19th April 2000, I signed the registration form, and thus began my journey into this beautiful world of network marketing.
As promising as it seemed initially, the path I was treading was full of hardships, rejections and disappointments for 3 long years. My first meeting as a drastic failure and I was on the verge of giving up, when a voice inside urged me to go on.
Every business has a gestation period, and I was once told that a mango tree might take a few years to bear fruit, but then it becomes a lifelong affair, similarly my efforts didn’t go in vain, and till this date, those effort of initial years are continuing to bear fruits and how!!
Since then, not only have I made a great career for myself in Network Marketing, I have also had the privilege to help build careers of thousands of young and old ; men and women, who either did not have any hope, or had lost all hope to succeed In life, who either did not have money, or were tired of their jobs and the mundane life, who thought compromise was the only way left in their lives.
Gradually my income rose to 6 figures in the year 2003, and I had also qualified for my own car, foreign trips twice a year, and eventually my own home within the next few years, in addition to the steady income per month. This had become a sort of Royalty income now- whether I worked or was on a holiday, my income remained strong and in fact grew month on month. I was financially free and my future was in safe hands!! Something I had longed for all my life.
Today , along with this identity of being an experienced business person, I am also constantly giving motivational sessions, counseling people, training them on areas of weakness, guiding them to build their career, hand holding them in whichever field they wish to pursue, using my own experience to the fullest.
God has been with me, and I truly believe Hard work always pays. We just need to come out of that cocoon and tolerate that pain ; which eventually and undoubtedly make you fly!
